It is one of the Third generation cities. It was established by presidential decree (194/2000).
It lies east of the Nile at the crossing point of Cairo / Sohag
desert road with Hurghada and Assuit road. It is connected with two
main axes 1st : Assuit Barrage : 2nd :New elevated bridge .
The city is connected with other cities through:

the parent city.
