It is one of the Third generation
cities. It was established by presidential decree (195/2000).
It lies east of the River Nile, southwest of Akhmeim city. To its
southward , passes Ahawaya valley .
To its northwest ward, lies
Nazira valley MarGirgis Monastry. Its central & southern end is
2 KM far from River Nile. Its west northern end is 1 KM from the
Nile.
