• There are27 new cities  of which 3 under planning and construction (New Luxor – East Port Said – New Alamen )

  •  Total area of new cities: 921 thousand acres.

  • Total implemented investments in the new cities: 60 billion pounds in addition to  private-sector investments . .

  • The current population :  5 million people ,  expected to reach 17 million  upon the completion of the growth of new cities .

Achievements from 1980 till 2011

1-   Housing Sector

Housing units

One million and two hundred thousand  housing units have been implemented in the new cities including about :

  •  350 thousand units implemented by NUCA

  •  About  850 thousand units implemented by the private sector and other authorities with various housing levels  (economic - medium - luxury).

  • preparations to implement social housing program is currently running and about 100 thousand  housing units (​​ each unit is 70 m2)  for low-income people  in the new cities are   expected  to be implemented .

  Housing plots

155 thousand plots with areas ranging from 250 m2  to 1000 m 2 to build (Buildings - villas) have been allocated including:

  • 96 thousand plots for economic , family and  medium housing ( 62%) .

  • 59 thousand  for above medium housing and villas ( 38%) .

  • Social Housing Project : -

    Within the plan for the provision of about 100 thousand small residential plots   till the  end of 2012in new cities with areas ranging from209 to 276 m 2 m 2, within the social housing program which aims at meeting the needs of the middle-income category as the following:

     -  6500 plots were provided on 25/9/2011by public lots in 12 new cities.

    -    9880 plots were provided on 22/12/2011by public lots in 6 new cities.

2-   Services Sector

  •  1350 service projects have been implemented by NUCA and 1950 by private sector  with various activities (educational – health – commercial, …etc) .

3-Utilities and Infrastructure:

plants:

  • 29 potable water plants with total capacity of 2.7 million m3/day have been  implemented .

  • 26 wastewater plants with total capacity of 680 thousand m3/day have been  implemented .

  • 41 adapting electric stations with total capacity of 3650 M .V. A have been implemented .

Networks :

The following networks have been implemented :

  • 10 thousand km/L potable water networks

  • 7 thousand km/L wastewater networks

  • 46  thousand km/L electricity networks

  • 7560 km/L roads networks

  • 8783 Km/L communication networks
